What you’ll be doing as a Design Manager at Suburban:

  • Manage the Design Department’s safety, goals, training, costs, budget, and business plan to meet or exceed company expectations.
  • Train and coach the Design process; calendar invite, design checklists, Estimating to Design meeting, Design to Operations meeting, design production, design review, delivery, and CRM tracking.
  • Lead preparation of presentations and comfortably leads presentations to diverse audiences, including owners, general contractors, engineers, and architects, recognizing personality differences and levels of technical comprehension.
  • Establish and coordinate design schedule, and set goals for completion, including thorough review and approval of all designs before delivery.
  • Organize pre-design meetings and post-design meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Estimate new design opportunities and create proposals.
  • Manage department susceptibility to risk.
  • Review and finalize quotes and submittals for Operations.
  • Ensure designs meet all code and scope requirements.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and legislative requirements.
  • Manage forecasting, job costs, and invoicing for all Design projects.
  • Develop/review optimal design solutions.
  • Coordinate work with other managers and staff.
  • Instruct and provide technical assistance to the Design team in the preparation of construction documents.

What you Must Bring to the Table:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical design.
  • Wisconsin Master Electrician License or Wisconsin Designer’s License/designer stamp or able and willing to obtain.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Eager to learn Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Supervisory experience or training in people management.
  • Valid driver’s license with required auto insurance.

Suburban Enterprises’ Wish List but not Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Wisconsin Designer’s License/designer stamp.
  • Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
