Mike T.

Technology Services Technician I

How does it challenge you?

My current role challenges me in several ways. A few examples include overcoming my fear of heights and figuring out how I’m going to get the jobs I’m tasked with completed in the most efficient ways. My role has challenges that are planned and some that don’t present themselves until work is being performed on the jobsite. These are good things because it keeps my job interesting, and I usually learn something new when it’s over.

What is your career path?

It’s difficult for me to decide what the next step is for me because my current role is great. I genuinely love what I do. I’m able to provide for my family and enjoy work. That’s important to me. I feel that Suburban has plenty of directions I can go that would be an excellent opportunity. I feel confident knowing I can continue doing what I love to do until the right next step for me presents itself.

At the end of the day, I go home…

Feeling accomplished. I love knowing that I had a part in installing a system that does things as big as keeping people safe by alerting them of dangers like fire or carbon monoxide. We work on systems that keep buildings secure or provide CCTV to help our customers prevent shoplifters from stealing merchandise. I like knowing there is a school that hears their principal recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning because of a Paging System we installed. At the end of the day, I like knowing I did something that people will use for years to come.
