Electrical Estimator I

KEY DELIVERABLES

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:

  • Provides estimates to internal (co-workers) and external customers within the time frames they specify, in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Correspond with architects, engineers, owner’s reps, etc. to obtain missing information.
  • Present detailed information to our operations team during internal hand off meetings.
  • Assists fellow estimators in client proposal and presentation preparation, may participate in owner/GC presentations.

 

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE:

  • Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.
  • Maintain files of working documentation as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, websites, price lists, etc.
  • Attends pre-bid meetings and visits sites of proposed projects; takes accurate notes such as ceiling height, level of difficulty, distances and overall conditions which affect installation and bid take-off.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner.
  • Work consistently within estimating process; calendar invite, bid checklist, pre-bid meeting, estimate production, proposal methodology, bid review, delivery, and Client Resource Management tracking.
  • Coordinates and assists in the design of electrical systems necessary.
  • Update Client Resource Management opportunities with accurate estimating information.
  • Focused on mastering current estimating processes and software.
  • Demonstrated success estimating projects up to $1,000,000.00.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality.
  • Understands and applies VE and FOE methods to optimize each opportunity.
  • Verifies state code compliance for all Suburban Electric work.

 

PROFITABILITY:

  • Provide accurate cost estimates and associated reports for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Work alongside other estimators, project managers and account managers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Seeks materials, tools, and techniques that provide an advantage over competitors during the design, bid, and/or construction phases.
  • Attend post-job meetings to learn how to increase profit margins moving forward.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED, GED).
  • 3 years of related electrical construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
